APPRAISALS
Would you like to know whether the jewellery or precious gemstone you’ve inherited is worth something? Whether the jewellery you bought on your holiday abroad is really worth what the salesman charged you? Have you come into an inheritance and want to make sure nobody gains an unfair advantage and everyone is treated fairly? You may even have valuable jewellery or gems that you’d like to have insured.
Before a value can be set the material of a precious metal has to be analysed and a gemmological assessment of a gem has to be carried out. We have particularly valuable gemstones certified by internationally-recognised gemstone laboratories, such as the Swiss Foundation for the Research of Gemstones (Schweizerische Stiftung für Edelstein-Forschung SSEF). This specialised testing laboratory only tests the material scientifically and does not offer an appraisal.

Valuing jewellery
Two courses are being prepared.
The first one will provide travellers with a sort of ‘toolkit’ of simple but sound pointers to recognise imitations or synthetic stones and how they are different to natural gemstones or pearls.
The second course is being designed for experts from the jewellery industry as well as anyone who has to deal with jewellery in a professional capacity, such as the customs authorities and their investigative section, or the police.
